Get Excited and MAKE Things

September 1st, 2012 by Richard Burman

I love the title of this post. I saw it for the first time last weekend on red T-shirts worn by some of the participants at Montreal’s first-ever Mini Maker Faire. Kudos to the organizers and volunteers that made this happen. It was a great success. I wish I could have gone both days. I have known about these events and the whole maker culture but this was my first Faire. You can find out more about Maker Faire and Make Magazine etc. on the Links page.

I brought a camera with me but one afternoon with no research or prep is not enough to do a good video piece. Nonetheless I took on the challenge and did some filming and a few interviews. I found a focus by asking everyone the same question; “Why is it important for you to MAKE?”. So here is the clip I put together. Everybody probably has a different answer to this question. It would be terrific if after seeing the video you wrote in the comment section what is it you make and why is it important to do so.

  2. Love the video, fantastic. I’m glad you enjoyed Montreal’s first Mini Maker Faire and it’s great that you took the time to ask some of our fabulous Makers why it is they love to make things. Next year is going to be bigger and better, see you there!
